Adjustment on Export Tariffs of China’s Partial Textile Products

With the approval of the State Council, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council decides to adjust the export tariffs of partial textile products started from January 1, 2005, among which: export tariffs on two kinds of products are to be terminated; three kinds to be lowered; 74 kinds to be increased, and one to be newly levied.

 Aiming at promoting further optimization of China’s textile industrial structure, accelerating the change of export growth mode of r textiles, better maintaining the due integrated textile right and interests of China’s textile and garment enterprises, and pushing forward an all-round, coordinated and sustainable development of China’s textile industry, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council has done lots of preparations and carried out careful and deliberate product investigation and data analysis before making the decision to adjust export tariffs of partial textile products. It is the active measure taken by Chinese government after textile integration so as to prevent the fairness and freedom of the international textile trade environment from being impaired. It fully shows the sincerity and responsible attitude of the Chinese government to maintain stable development of the international textile trade. Concrete adjustments are as follows:

* Export tariffs of 74 kinds of textile products are to be increased as of January 1, 2005, which are under 8-digit column of 39 items of 148 kinds of textile products. Export tariff on flax mono-yarn (tariff code No.: 53061000) is to be levied. (Refer to Appendix 1 for products and tariffs.)

* Among 148 textile products whose export tariffs were levied started from January 1, 2005, export tariffs on 3 kinds of products are to be lowered and export tariffs on 2 kinds of products are to be terminated. (Refer to Appendix 2 for products and tariffs.)

* For any other textile products whose export tariffs were levied started from January 1, 2005, export tariffs will continue to be levied according to the tariff rate applied on January 1, 2005.
